Privacy Policy

Last Updated: Oct 6, 2026
This policy explains what the Cleanup Now app does with your information. It sits alongside the Pretty Boa Media Privacy Policy, which covers our company and websites generally. Where the two differ about the app, this policy governs.

The short version

1. Photos and videos

With your permission, the app reads your photo library to find duplicate and similar photos and videos, screenshots, blurry photos and large videos, so that you can delete or compress them.

All of this analysis runs on your device. Your photos and videos, their thumbnails, and the results of the scan are not transmitted to Pretty Boa Media or to any third party.

When you delete items in the app, iOS moves them to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where they remain for about 30 days unless you remove them sooner. When you compress a video, the smaller copy is saved to your library and the original is removed only if you choose that.

You can limit the app to selected photos, or withdraw access entirely, at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.

2. Contacts

With your permission, the app reads the contacts stored on your device to find duplicate entries and entries with missing details, so that you can merge, edit or delete them.

Your contacts are read and changed on your device only. Names, phone numbers, email addresses and any other contact details are not transmitted to Pretty Boa Media or to any third party.

Merging and deleting contacts changes your device’s address book. If your contacts sync with iCloud or another account, that service will sync the change; that is governed by the provider’s privacy policy, not ours.

You can withdraw access at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Contacts.

3. Storage information

The app reads how much storage your device has and how much is free, in order to show it to you and to check there is room before compressing a video. This is used on your device only.

4. Analytics, and why we never see your content

We use analytics to understand how the app is used: which screens people reach, where they get stuck, and whether a feature is used at all.

When you clean something up, our analytics receive an event such as “duplicate photos were deleted”, together with the number of items and the amount of space freed. They do not receive the photos, the videos, file names, or anything from your contacts.

Analytics also record technical information about your device and app: device model, iOS version, app version, language, country, an anonymous installation identifier, and crash and performance reports that help us fix problems.

Approximate location. Our analytics provider works out an approximate location, such as country and city, from the internet address your requests come from. The app does not ask for location permission and does not read your device’s location.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store. We never see or handle your payment details. Apple processes the transaction and tells us only whether a subscription is active.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier for your installation, your purchase and renewal history, and your device’s country and platform. The anonymous identifier is kept in your device’s keychain so that your subscription is recognised if you reinstall the app.

6. Advertising and attribution

If you installed the app after seeing an advertisement, we measure which campaign brought you, so we know where to advertise. This uses AppsFlyer, Meta and the advertising frameworks provided by Apple.

Some versions of the app may show advertisements to users without a subscription. These are served through AppLovin and its advertising partners, which may include Digital Turbine, Unity (including ironSource), Liftoff (Vungle) and Mintegral.

What these providers receive is installation and in-app event information, for example that the app was installed or opened, or that a subscription started, along with device information and advertising identifiers. They never receive your photos, videos or contacts.

We ask your permission before using your device’s advertising identifier, through Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, attribution runs in a privacy-preserving mode that does not identify your device, advertisements are not personalised using that identifier, and the app is otherwise unaffected.

7. Notifications and app lock

If you allow notifications, we store an anonymous push token so that notifications can be delivered to your device. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.

If you turn on the app lock, Face ID or Touch ID is handled entirely by iOS. The app is told only whether the check succeeded and never receives your biometric data.

These providers process data on our behalf, or as independent controllers under their own privacy policies where they provide advertising services. Some are located outside your country; where data is transferred internationally we rely on safeguards permitted by applicable law.

9. Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Your choices and rights

If you are in the EEA or UK, you have rights under the GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

If you live in California, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information. Sharing identifiers for advertising happens only with the tracking permission described in section 6, which you can withdraw at any time.

11. Retention

Your photos, videos and contacts remain on your device and under your control. Analytics, subscription and attribution data are retained for as long as needed for the purposes described, and then deleted or anonymised.

12. Changes

If we change this policy materially we will update the date above.

13. Contact us
